At the award ceremony of the Milan International Film Festival (MIFF Awards 2013) The Girl and Death was awarded with the Leonardo’s Horse Award for ‘Best Cinematography’ and ‘Best Production Design’.
Art Director Gert Brinkers was present to collect his award, as well as Jos Stelling who received the award on behalf of D.O.P. Goert Giltay.

The Girl and Death will have its cinema release in Russia on May 16th, 2013. It will be distributed with 40 copies and can be seen in cities such as Moscow (16 movie theatres), St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Vladivostok, Rostov-na-Donu, Kaliningrad and many others.
The Russian premiere of The Girl and Death took place on the 22nd of April 2013. It was the opening film of the annual spring Arts Festival “Cherry Forest” (“Chereshnevy Les”). The premiere was held at the Ermolova Theatre in Moscow.
The Girl and Death has also opened the film festival “The Other Cinema” on 24th of April, at the 35MM cinema in Moscow. During this festival, the film was also screened in St.Petersburg, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and other Russian cities (25 cities in total).

Jos Stelling's The Girl and Death has six nominations for the Leonardo's Horse Award at the Milan International Film Festival:
• Best Directing – Jos Stelling • Best Acting Performance Male – Leonid Bichevin • Best Acting Performance Female – Sylvia Hoeks • Best Supporting Actress – Renata Litvinova • Best Cinematography – Goert Giltay • Best Production Design – Gert Brinkers
Leonardo’s Horse Award Winners will be selected by the Made in Milan International Film Society Voting Members and announced on May 14, 2013, during the festival in Milan. |

In relation to the screening of his latest film ‘The Girl and Death’ at the Sofia International Film Festival, Jos Stelling will receive on the 12th of March 2013 the ‘Sofia Oeuvre Award’ for his outstanding contribution in cinema.
This prestigious prize has in the past been awarded to among others: Peter Greenaway, Sir Alan Parker, Terry Jones, Volker Schlondorf, Theo Angelopoulos, Vanessa Redgrave, Wim Wenders, Jean-Claude Carrière, Nikita Mikhalkov, Michael Palin en Otar Iossealiani, Claudia Cardinale en Claude Lelouch.
